Chickpea Mash
This chickpea mash is a lovely textured meal for your baby. Chickpeas are a great source of iron and protein, and mashing rather than blending gives your baby practice with lumpier textures. It’s quick and easy to make, and you could swap out the veges for whatever you have in the house.
Ingredients
1 carrot, chopped
4 cauliflower florets
1 tin chickpeas, drained and rinsed
½ cup water
Method
Boil or steam carrot and cauliflower in a pot (or steamer) until tender.
Drain any water and add chickpeas to the pot. Heat on low for 5 minutes.
Mash the mixture with ½ cup water.
Serving Suggestion
Serve on a preloaded spoon or spread on toast fingers for older babies.
