Quinoa And Pumpkin Mash

This quinoa and pumpkin mash is a nutritious and easy meal to make for your baby. The quinoa adds lovely texture as well as protein and iron, while the pumpkin brings natural sweetness and nutrients that support immunity. It’s a great stepping stone from smooth purees.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup quinoa

  • 2/3 cup water

  • 200g pumpkin, diced

  • 1 Tbsp water

Method

  1. Place quinoa in a fine sieve and rinse thoroughly.

  2. Combine quinoa and water in a pot. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 12 minutes or until quinoa is tender and water has absorbed.

  3. Boil or steam pumpkin until tender.

  4. Combine quinoa, pumpkin and extra water in a medium bowl, mash into desired consistency.

Serving Suggestion

Serve on a preloaded spoon — the quinoa gives a lovely soft texture for babies to explore.
