Legumes Puree

Legumes like kidney beans, lentils, and chickpeas are a wonderful source of iron and protein for your baby. They also provide folate and fibre. Using tinned legumes makes this puree quick and easy to prepare, and it freezes well for busy days.

Ingredients

  • 1 can legumes e.g. kidney beans, lentils, chickpeas

Method

  1. Pour legumes out of the can, and rinse.

  2. Simmer in a pot of water until soft, around 20 minutes.

  3. Drain most of the water and then blend into a smooth consistency.

  4. Spoon into ice trays and freeze.

Serving Suggestion

Serve on a preloaded spoon, or mix with a vege puree for a balanced and filling meal.
