Red Lentil And Vege Mash

This red lentil and vege mash is a hearty and iron-rich meal for your baby. The lentils cook down into a lovely soft texture, and the potato, carrot, and peas make it a well-rounded meal. Great for babies who are ready for lumpier textures.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dried red lentils

  • 1 potato, peeled and diced

  • ½ carrot, diced

  • ¼ cup peas

Method

  1. Cook lentils in a pot of boiling water for around 6 minutes or until tender, drain.

  2. Meanwhile, boil potato and carrot in a pot for about 7 minutes, then add peas and cook for a further 3 minutes (or until all veges are tender).

  3. Reserve ¼ cup cooking water, then drain.

  4. Add lentils and reserved water back into pot with veges and mash.

Serving Suggestion

Serve on a preloaded spoon — the chunky texture is great for babies learning to manage lumps.
